The Juno Fan Choice Award sponsor got
more than it bargained for with smooth-talking
winner Michael Buble, who spent much of
his time at the podium pontificating on the
merits of Doritos chips.
"I'd like to thank Doritos for making such tasty
treats," the five-time-nominated crooner told
the crowd after first thanking his fans.
"Sometimes when I eat them, my fingers go orange
-- but it's worth it."
"This is for all the people who said I couldn't
vote for myself enough times to win," Buble
added with a playful smile.

During Michael's performance in
Seattle, WA, he was treated to an unexpected
practical joke when Jann Arden jumped onstage,
flung herself at Michael and wouldn't let go!
She held tight until Michael and Steve
carried her off stage.
Another treat was a
duet with Michael and Jann. Jann had thought
they were going to do it earlier in the show,
and when it didn't happen, she changed her
clothes. Eventually, when it did happen, Jann
got dragged out wearing her sweatshirt and
orange flip-flops. She was mortified.
But the song was incredible, and at the end
Michael expressed his extreme gratitude.

28 September 2007
Michael has released
his new video "Lost", the second single
from his latest chart-topping album, "Call Me
Irresponsible".
"Call Me Irresponsible" has
already sold three million copies around the
world since its May 2007 release. The album's
first single "Everything" went to No. 1 in
several countries.
Michael will launch a
major coast-to-coast Canadian tour in
Victoria on January 10th with stops in
Halifax, Moncton, Montreal, Ottawa, London,
Sudbury, Toronto, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Calgary,
Edmonton, Kelowna Victoria and Vancouver.
During a press Conference aboard a yacht in
Coal Harbour, Michael announced his Canadian
Tour dates and also announced that he would be
donating $1 per ticket sold during his tour of
Canada to the Raise-a-Reader Program,
initiated by CanWest. He is the first artist to
participate. He admits that he doesn't get past
the sports pages these days, but he is thrilled
to take part in this program.
"What a cool thing for me to be able to do.
Obviously, we should fight illiteracy. My little
sister, Brandee, is starting to write children's
books, and I think it is pretty marvelous
because I think it is really important for moms
and dads to read to their kids and read with
their kids."
One of the female journalists noted that
Michael was looking rather svelte." He laughed
and proceeded to charm everyone with a story
about Bruce Allen uncomfortably trying to raise
the topic of his up-and-down weight. "He said,
'Well kid, maybe you should think about, maybe,
you know…'"
Michael Buble says he
wants to be the greatest entertainer on Earth
and that he also has acting aspirations.
But off stage, Buble confided he's not quite as
confident. "I'm still shy and nervous and
insecure," he told The Canadian Press in an
interview Thursday. He had just announced his
Canadian tour dates Thursday surrounded by the
luxury of billionaire Jimmy Pattison's yacht.
"I keep wondering when it'll happen, and I don't
mean on stage because on stage I'm great but in
my life, I keep wondering when I'll walk into a
room and not hunch and for when I won't be
insecure and for when I won't be too loud to
overcompensate for my insecurities," he said.
"I don't know, it's weird," Buble said.
"I look in the mirror and no matter what, I
still see the 14-year-old kid. Maybe it's part
of why people have been attracted to me as a
performer. God gave me a real gift and that was
to turn off the self -conscious switch on stage
and honestly, I could be naked up there."
Buble, 32, said people are shocked when they see
his off-stage personality and that even his
girlfriend, actress Emily Blunt, couldn't
believe the difference in his demeanour.
"We'd be home and I wouldn't say anything for
eight hours and she'd say, 'Where is he?"'
During the interview, Buble sang the original
lyrics to his hit single "Everything," a song he
initially wrote as a lullaby years ago but that
he later revamped because the waltz beat just
didn't cut it.
He said his grandfather, Mitch Buble, inspired
him as a youngster by playing records by the
Mills Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank
Sinatra and is his biggest fan.
"We were in Chicago and there were paparazzi and
everything was crazy and he just looked at me
and said: 'Sunshine, I thought you would be big
but not this big.'
20 September 2007
Belying the
devil-may-care attitude he brings to his hit
albums and stage shows, acclaimed crooner
Michael Buble announced Thursday that partial
proceeds of every ticket sold for his 2008
Canadian concert tour would go directly to
the CanWest Raise-a-Reader initiative.
Buble, whose latest album is Call Me
Irresponsible, is the first Canadian performer
to attach his name to the national literacy
campaign. Thursday's press conference also
marked how Raise-a-Reader has leapt from a
one-day event in the fall to a year-round series
of entertainment events - the Raise-a-Reader
Concert Series - in support of literacy programs
in communities across Canada.
"This is very cool to me," says Buble, looking
every bit a Sinatra in sneakers at the Vancouver
event. "My little sister Brandee is actually
starting to write kids' books and I think it's
pretty marvelous because... it's really
important for moms and dads to read to their
kids, and read with their kids."
"I see
interviews with artists and they say, 'No man, I
make music for me,'" he says, feigning a bored
rock-star grumble. "It's like, well, expect to
sell 10 copies.'"
Buble's 2008 Canada tour will begin Jan. 10 in
Victoria and take the multi-platinum-selling
artist through stops in Halifax, Moncton,
Montreal, Ottawa, London, Sudbury, Toronto,
Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna
and Vancouver.

In 1957, a very young
Canadian boy, named Paul Anka had his first #1
record "Diana". Over the next 46
years, Paul had many more #1 hits, wrote songs
for all the top stars as well as the Theme for
the Tonite Show & for Movies like "The Longest
Day", and won countless awards all over the
world.
In 2003, Paul became the Executive
Producer of the debut album of another Canadian
entertainer, Michael Bublé. On this debut album,
Michael sang a song that Paul had written and
made a hit in 1959, "Put Your Head On My
Shoulder."
In commemoration of 50 years in music, Paul's
new album, "Classic Songs, My Way" will
be released. It is only fitting that these two
business partners, these two friends, should
come together on this album. They will sing
"You Are My Destiny", another one of Paul's
previous hits from years gone by.
Media Report Highlights
31 August 2007 - The Columbian
What's to dislike about this guy?
I mean really, maybe the knock on crooner
Michael Buble is that he's too cute, too cuddly,
too nice.
Buble tried to change all that at
his concert at the Rose Garden arena in Portland
Monday night, when he told the sold-out crowd,
"I'm a bad ass." Of course he said this, all the
while flashing those puppy dog eyes at every
available woman in the crowd. And on this night,
every woman in the crowd was available.
Being a bad boy, fortunately, is not really in
Buble's DNA. His fun rendition of the Village
People's "YMCA" and Elvis Presley's "That's All
Right, Mama" was as far as he would go. And they
were, you guessed it, simply sweet versions of
the originals. Apparently George Thorogood's
"Bad to the Bone" is not in his repertoire.
What is, however, is nothing short of magical.
You would be hard pressed to find a more
entertaining performer. His sense of place is
unrivaled. And his place is on the stage.
Buble's voice is arguably better than anyone
alive. But it is his connection to his newfound
friends, those who visit him on tour, that makes
him what he is.
29 August 2007 - The
Oregonian
Peel off layers of hype to
reveal a genuine singer
The
show opened with flashing lights and a bombastic
fanfare from the 13-piece band. But when Michael
Buble launched his opening number, Leonard
Cohen's "I'm Your Man," the music was drowned in
the screams of adoration that erupted from the
crowd at the Canadian singer's every move.
The
swinging big-band numbers and classic pop hits
that followed were good, too, but the focus was
clearly on the man rather than his beautiful and
supple voice.
And therein lies the dilemma for Buble, who has
sold more than 12 million albums in just five
years: He knows he can't take all that adoration
seriously, and yet he appears to be loving every
minute of it.
That's why his performance was filled with
irony.
"I'm a bad boy," said the Vancouver, B.C.,
native, though he never unbuttoned the jacket of
his black suit. As the crowd laughed, he
asserted, "I've tried to make the show more
manly." And with his guitar player strumming
acoustic chords, Buble executed a perfect,
hip-shaking, shoulder-twitching imitation of
Elvis Presley singing "That's Alright Mama."

From The Washington Post:
Michael Bublé is the real deal!
"We
know: Your wife/girlfriend has had one of his
CDs on repeat since 2003 and your mother calls
every time he is on The Today Show, but from the
evidence of his stylish review at the Patriot
Center, Saturday night, he wants your vote,
too. And thanks to his self-deprecating stage
persona, he deserves it.
"He may resemble Footloose Era Chris Penn more
than Kevin Bacon, but in the presence of his
charisma, not to mention those silky pipes, the
women would melt if he looked like Tom Petty. It
is rare, in this era, to hear a vocalist with
the chops to pull off the flourishes Bublé did
in his 95 minute program. He made it look easy
and made it sound spectacular. Feigning
jealousy, he sulked off the stage when his band
received a rapturous response to their jazz
instrumental number. Trombonist, Nick Vagenas
leapt up to say what an insecure diva his boss
was and even made fun of his dancing.
"Only when Nick tried to sing, did Bublé return
to the stage. After an encore, thanking his fans
again, Michael said goodnight with “A Song for
You.” It was a classy finish to a supremely
entertaining evening. One thing, do you really
have to have the MB logo on the video screens
and the music stands? No need to splash your
name all over stage, Mikey. You already proved
who owns it!"
3 August 2007

Tuesday, 31 July 1:00pm Network 10 - The Oprah

Monday, 1 October 9:35pm ABC TV - Enough Rope

20 July 2007
Michael collects his second No. 1 on the
Adult Contemporary chart with
"Everything". The song reaches pole position
two years to the week after his first
chart-topper, "Home."
And to cap his first week of box office smashing
concerts, 'Call Me Irresponsible'
officially achieves Platinum status in America !
10 July 2007
En route to the airport,
Michael spoke to the news by phone. "I'm a
little bummed out. It's always a little bit
sentimental leaving your hometown, leaving your
family and knowing that you're going to be gone
for a couple of months."
Describing his new album "Call Me
Irresponsible" he said, "Really, this was my
remark on the state of love. When I say that, I
mean that you're either in it, and it's the
greatest thing in the world, or you're out of
it, and it's the worst. When you say 'love,' I
think people instinctively think one thing. I
think you forget, maybe, that it can be rough. I
called it 'Call Me Irresponsible' because I
thought that you have to be irresponsible to
fall in love – but is there anything better than
when you're irresponsibly crazy about someone?
Is there anything better than that?"
